REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer Team dropped a road contest to University of Redlands on Saturday night 5-0. The Sagehens had several key opportunities to keep the game close, but the Bulldogs stayed aggressive from beginning to end for the victory.
Season Impact: The Sagehens are now 2-6-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the SCIAC.
The Bulldogs took the early lead in the first half, scoring in the eighth minute on Arian Mogharei's header off a corner from Steve Acuna. They doubled the lead seven minutes later off another corner by Acuna, this time Collin Chubbfertal getting the goal. In the 27th minute, Heckendorn almost cut the lead in half, but saw his shot saved. In the 37th minute, the Bulldogs extended their lead 3-0 on a goal by Quinn Richards.
The Sagehens had an opportunity to chip away the lead when they won a corner kick in the 49th minute. Jared Mejia attempted a shot off the corner, but his attempt went wide right. Graeme Logan attempted another corner three minutes later, but Jorge Guillen-Lopez couldn't finish the shot as it sailed high. Steve Acuna scored for Redlands in the 63rd minute to make it 4-0 and Richards had a brace after scoring in the 71st minute.
Up Next: The Sagehens will head back home on Wednesday, October 2 at 4:00 p.m. when they host Occidental College at 4:00 p.m.
