Sagehens Return To Action With Win Over Lewis+Clark

Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swimming team returned to action after a month lay-off with a 147-55 win over Lewis & Clark on Friday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.

The Sagehens moved their usual line-up around, as senior All-American Max Scholten did not compete in the backstroke, but won the 200-yard freestyle instead (1:47.77). The last time Scholten competed in a new event, he set a school record in the 200 individual medley back in December.

After Pomona-Pitzer won the medley relay, Joe LaBriola extended the Sagehen lead with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle. Hugh Berryman earned a win in the 200 individual medley (2:07.52). Chris Wright (pictured) won the 200 butterfly in 2:08.29 and Brian Williamson followed with a win in the 100 freestyle (50.92).

Senior Vincent Giannotti came through with a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:02.86, and Kevin Lu earned the 200 breast win with a 2:29.26. Pomona-Pitzer capped off the meet with an easy win in the freestyle relay.

The Sagehens return to action tomorrow for a SCIAC meet at Cal Lutheran.
