Division II Simon Fraser Swims Past Sagehens

Claremont, Calif. - Sophomore Hugh Berryman (pictured) had the lone win for the Sagehens in the 50-yard freestyle, as the Division II Simon Fraser Men's Swimming team earned a 140-64 win on Friday afternoon.

The loss drops the Sagehens to 4-2 in dual competition, although they remain 4-0 in the SCIAC heading into tomorrow's meet against Redlands.

Berryman swam a 21.66 in the 50 free to win by a half-second. Simon Fraser, a Canadian university eligible for the NCAA Division II championships, controlled most of the other individual events. Brian Wysolmerski was the lone runner-up for the Sagehens, coming in second in the 1000-yard freestyle, followed by teammates Austin Abrams in third and Tatsu Monkman in fourth.

Andy Wright was third in the 500 free for Pomona-Pitzer, while Tommy DePaoli finished third in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke for the Sagehens.  Ferrel Atkins added a third place finish in the 200-yard individual medley.

Pomona-Pitzer returns to action tomorrow for a key SCIAC meet against Redlands, beginning at 11 a.m.
