Sagehens Cruise To Win Over Chapman

Orange, Calif. - Pomona-Pitzer's Men's Swimming and Diving team took all but one swimming event as it cruised to a 225-74 win over Chapman in a SCIAC meet on Saturday.

With the win, the Sagehens are now 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in the SCIAC, with the only loss coming to Division II Cal Baptist back in November.

Pomona-Pitzer opened up with a win in the medley relay, and then went 1-2-3 in the 1650-yard freestyle, with sophomore Andy Wright edging out teammates Austin Abrams and Tommy Turner. Freshman Timmy Hardman then won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.09, beating out teammates Chris Garnatz and Hugh Berryman in the 2-3 spots.

Freshman Kyle Dalrymple took both breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:00.64 and adding a win in the 200 in 2:12.33. The 200-yard butterfly went to senior Brian Williamson in 2:16.00 (ahead of teammates Gabe Leggott and Nathan Yale), while the 100 was won by sophomore Will Thorson.

Hardman added a win in the 100-yard freestyle for his second first-place finish of the day, while sophomore Devon Kennedy (pictured) won the 500 in 5:05.83. Freshman Danny Villars took the 200-yard backstroke and the 400 IM, just ahead of classmate Tanner Byer.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action next Saturday when it travels to Redlands for an 11 a.m. meet.
