Sagehens Cruise To Senior Day Win

Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swimming and Diving team swept all five freestyle events as it cruised to a 189-91 win over Redlands on Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.

With the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-2 overall and 5-0 in the SCIAC, while defeating Redlands for the second year in a row. Last year was the first win for Pomona-Pitzer in the series since 1999.

Senior Hugh Berryman (pictured) won the 50 free and anchored the final relay of the day to a win in his final swim at Haldeman Pool. Freshman Mark Hallman cleaned up in the middle distance freestyle, winning the 100, 200 and 500, while junior Andy Wright added a win in the 1650.

The Sagehens also swept the breaststroke and backstroke events, with sophomore Kyle Dalrymple taking the breaststroke and sophomore Daniel To winning the back. All-American Jeff Depew took both butterfly events and the IM for Redlands, but sophomore Danny Villars earned a personal best time in finishing second behind him in the 200 fly.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Cal Lutheran to participate in a trimeet with Occidental.

Full results will be posted later.
