Hallman Sets School Record In 500, Takes All-America Honors

Claremont, Calif. - Freshman Mark Hallman set a new school record in the 500-yard freestyle and earned honorable mention All-America honors with a 12th place finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenendoah, Texas.

Hallman swam a 4:29.33 in the consolation finals to break his own record in the 500 set at the SCIAC Championships in February. He earned a spot in the consolations by finishing 16th in the prelims and then outperformed his seed by four spots.

Hallman swept the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events at the SCIAC Championships and was second in the 500. He swam in seven events at the SCIACs (three individual, four relay) and set new school records in all seven.

Hallman will participate in the 100 and the 200 at the NCAA Championships in the next two days. He is seeded sixth nationally in the 200 after trimming nine seconds off the school record at the SCIAC Championships to take first place.
