At Pomona-Pitzer: Entering his first season as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer Men’s Swimming and Diving team, where he will compete in the distance freestyle events.
2015-16: SCIAC All-Academic team.
High School: Attended Benilde-St. Margaret’s in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, where he competed on the swimming team for one year as a freshman, qualifying for the state meet in the 200 IM…Earned All-Conference Award…Highest Honor Roll selection all eight semesters…Earned Jerry Miller Faith in Action Award for community service and servant leadership…Also swam for 12 years for the Aquajets Swim Team, where he was a four-time Minnesota State Champion in relays…Also finished in third place at the Minnesota State Swim Meet High Point for 17/18 boys in the summer of 2015…Had runner-up finishes at states in the 200 free (2015), 1000 free (2014, 2015), 1650 free (2014, 2015) and the 1500 free (2014)…NSCA Junior National Qualifier in the 200 free, 500 free, 100 free and 1650 free… High school best times include: 200 Freestyle: 1:43.73; 500 Freestyle: 4:36.32; 1000 Freestyle: 9:35.91; 1650 Freestyle: 16:09.59; 400 IM: 4:11.24; 200 Butterfly: 1:57.63.
Personal: Attends Pomona College, where he majors in mathematics…Hobbies include biking, reading, playing piano, attending musical theater productions and following sports (particularly Minnesota teams)…Favorite athletes include Katie Ledecky, Brian Dozier and Zach Parise…Moneyball is his favorite book and Les Miserables and The Sound of Music are his favorite movies…Hopes to earn a PhD and pursue a career in academia…Served at Jones-Harrison Residences, an assisted living facility, every week in high school, playing piano for residents, meeting residents on a 1:1 basis and developing meaningful, personal relationships with residents…Served on the Board of Directors of Minnesota Swimming as the Athlete Committee Vice Chairman between April 2014 and April 2015, and continues to be active as an Athlete Representative for Minnesota Swimming and USA Swimming…Chose Pomona because it “offers an outstanding liberal arts education and will give me the opportunity to explore a variety of my academic interests from mathematics to politics. PPSD is also a tight-knit swim team, which I look forward to being a part of in my four years here. Pomona's location in Southern California doesn't hurt either!”
