Men's Swim and Dive: Hens Seal Dual Meet Over Chapman, Whittier

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim and Dive Team maintained their strong run in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon, defeating both Whittier College and Chapman University in a dual meet. The Sagehens outscored the Poets 206-77 and beat the Panthers 212-79.

Freshman Billy Altantulkhuur had a solid day on the boards, diving into a first place finish in the 3-meter dives with 191.90 points and second in the 1-meter with 185.40 points.

Over in the lanes, the Sagehens opened up with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as Nikhil Kundu, Kyle Allison, Samuel To, and Adrian Hui worked for a first place finish at 1:35.34. The Hens also saw Erik Garcia, Nathan Hahn, Greg Havton, and Liam O'Shea combine for a third-place finish at 1:38.40.

Junior Jack Swanson grinded through a convincing victory in the 1650 freestyle, finish almost a minute over his teammate Spencer Satz, taking first at 16:36.15. Satz finished at 17:37.10. Athlete of the Week Liam O'Shea showed why he deserved the honor with three individual victories, winning the 200 freestyle at 1:46.29, the 200 backstroke at 1:55.53, and 400 Individual Medley at 4:09.36.

Sophomore Will Abele also won multiple events, taking the 200 butterfly at 1:55.42 and the 100 freestyle at 48.45. Kundu won out the 100 backstroke at 51.61 and finished behind O'Shea in the 200 backstroke at 1:55.93. Hahn took the 200 breaststroke at 2:10.88, surpassing the second-place finisher by nearly three seconds.

The Sagehens closed out the meet by winning the 200 freestyle relay, led by a team featuring Havton, Nick Lewis, Garcia, and Hui. They clocked in at 1:27.71.

The Hens will compete against on December 1st at 3 p.m. and the 2nd at 11 a.m. as they host cross-street rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
