CLEVELAND, OH. – The No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell in the Semifinals to No. 4 Emory 9-0 on Saturday morning in the ITA Indoor National Championships.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 4-3 overall.
Pomona-Pitzer fell behind early as the dropped all three of the doubles matches. The Sagehens fell at No. 1 doubles as the team of Josh Gearou and Octave Bellet fell 8-1 followed by a loss at No. 2 as Jed Kronenberg and Jansen Comadena fell 8-4 and Avery Bicks and Charlie Stark ended with an 8-2 loss.
The Sagehens started out singles competition with a loss at No. 4 with Sam Gearou falling 6-2, 6-2 and a loss at No. 6 with Jacob Schoenherr losing 6-3, 6-1. Emory went on to get wins at 2, 3, 5 and 1 as well with Josh Gearou falling 6-4, 6-4, Bellet losing 6-4, 6-2, Quinn Hirsohn losing 6-2, 6-4 and Kronenberg went the distance in a third set but came up just short as he fell by the scores of 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-8.
