CLEVELAND, OH. – The No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell in the third place match of the ITA Indoor Championship to No. 9 WashU on Sunday morning.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 4-4 overall.
The Sagehens fell behind early on in double completion as they lost all three of the doubles matches against the Bears. WashU started out with a win at the No. 2 doubles with the team of Jed Kronenberg and Jansen Comadena falling 8-4. The Sagehens had two close matches at No. 1 and No. 3 but came up short as Avery Bicks and Charlie Stark lost 8-4 and Josh Gearou and Octave Bellet lost 8-6.
The Bears went up 4-0 after taking the first singles win of the day at No. 1 as Kronenberg lost his match 6-3, 6-0, but the Sagehens earned a point at No. 6 as Quinn Hirsohn defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2. Pomona-Pitzer ended up losing in the next match at No. 4 singles with Sam Gearou falling 6-2, 6-3 as the Bears came away with the 5-1 victory to close out the third-place match.
