Men's Tennis: Sagehens Fall To Division I UC Riverside

CLAREMONT, CA. – Saturday afternoon did not end in the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis Team's favor as they dropped a non-conference home contest against Division I UC Riverside 8-1. Despite salvaging a point in doubles, the Sagehens could not hang on with the Highlanders in the singles round as the visiting side swept through.

Season Impact: The Sagehens are now 10-12 voverall after today's loss.

Octave Bellet di Giacomoni and Nils Skattum dropped their No. 1 doubles match 8-5 to Andreas Whelan-Merediz and Anderson Ju. Avery Bicks and Charlie Stark won their no. 2 match 8-7 over Kyle McCann and Max Cohen. In no. 3 doubles, Parth Desai and Jack Bernstein fell to Gilbert Chung and Nabil Abdallah 8-5.

In singles, Bellet dropped no. 1 singles to McCann 6-0 and 6-3 and Bernstein fell 6-3 and 6-2 to Whelan-Merediz. Jansen Comadena lost to Chung 6-3 and 6-2 in no.3 singles and Charlie Stark took a close 7-5 and 6-2 loss to Filip Engstrom in no. 5 singles. Nil Skattum lost 6-1 and 7-5 to Ju in no. 6 and Sam Gearou fell 7-5 and 6-4 in no. 2 to Abdallah.
