CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's and women's track and field teams held the Collegiate All Comers meet at Strehle Track on Saturday afternoon.
The women had one record broken as junior Maya Weigel finished in second place and set a new record in the mile race with a time of 4:55.40, breaking her old record of 5:01.57.
Sophomore Kristen Hernandez finished in 11th in the mile with a time of 5:22.25, which puts her in sixth place all-time at Pomona-Pitzer.
The Pomona-Pitzer 4x100 Meter Relay team of junior Schuyler Fox, junior Cat Banobi, freshman Gianna Wu and senior Ailene Nguyen posted the ninth best time in program history with a fourth place finish clocking in at 50.07.
Nguyen also went on to take first place in the long jump as she cleared 5.45 meters and freshman Micaiah Palmerfinished the triple jumped in eighth place with a jump of 10.65 meters.
"We competed well," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We are making good progress, and we're much improved from even a week ago at our season opener. It's always great fun to compete on our home facility, and I was impressed with the competitiveness of our entire team today. This shows great promise for our upcoming meets, especially when we start up our scoring SCIAC meets in a couple of weeks."
On the men's side, the Sagehens took their only win of the day as freshman Marcus Polk finished in first place in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.03.
Junior Christopher Neikirk claimed second place in the 400 Meter Hurdles as he finished with a time of 55.98.
The Sagehens next hit the track on Saturday, February 27th at the CMS Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont McKenna at 11 a.m.
