LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's track and field team had a select team of individuals compete at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles, California.
The Sagehens did not score as a team but had several individuals place in events.
The Sagehens started the day as senior John Fowler set a new personal best and moved into second all-time in Sagehen history as he finished with a seventh place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 14:20.81.
Sophomore Faraaz Rashidi finished in seventh place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.36.
Junior Paul Messana finished the 800 meter run with a ninth place finish as he clocked in at 1:54.24.
Junior Parker Head took a seventh place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase as he finished with a time of 9:25.31.
"I'm really proud of the way our guys competed, especially the 5k group", said Head Coach Robert Neely. "John went out in the first heat and set the tone early with a new personal best, moving him to second in Pomona-Pitzer history. As an athlete, it feels good to see hard work pay off in the form of fast times, and that happened for many Sagehens tonight."
The Sagehens next hit the track as they travel to San Diego to compete in the Point Loma Invitational on Saturday, March 26th at 10 a.m.
