Men's Track and Field: Pomona-Pitzer Takes Fourth Place After Day One Of SCIAC Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's track and field team finished day one of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships in fourth place with 29 points, which is just two points away from third place La Verne (31).

Senior Corey Purcella won the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase Championships as he clocked in with a time of 9:25.49. Junior Parker Head finished the race in second place as he finished with a time of 9:25.74 and freshman Julian DeGroot-Lutzner took fourth place clocking in at 9:40.05.

Junior J.D. Kieffer finished the 10,000 Meter Run in fourth place as he crossed the finish line with a time of 32.20.11.

The majority of the events were preliminaries for the finals which will take place on Saturday. The Sagehens will compete in the final day of the SCIAC Championships tomorrow with the track events beginning at 5:00 p.m.
