WHITTIER, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Track and Field team took home two victories in the SCIAC Multi-Dual #2 held at Whittier College, defeating Cal Lutheran 111.00-37.00 and Whittier College 100.00-62.00. The Hens prevailed over their opponents thanks to several key performances by their jumpers Ethan Hardacre and Cal Neikirk, as well as some strong showings in the sprints.
Season Impact: The Sagehens are now 5-0 in their SCIAC Dual-Meet record.
"We approached this meet with one goal in mind, which was to leave with our undefeated conference record in-tact," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter after the meet. "We were able to accomplish that even without some key members of our team who competed elsewhere on Friday."
Daniel Tamkin took second overall in the 100 Meter sprint final, clocking in at 11.32. Ryan Abele finished in second as well in the 200 Meter, finishing at a time of 22.39. Tamkin took fifth in that race at 22.84. Over in the 400 Meters, Alexander Barton finished in third overall at 51.29.
In the pole vault, Nick Kapule vaulted up 14' 7" to take third overall at set the 7th-best mark in Pomona-Pitzer history. On the jumps, Neikirk took first in the high jump, setting a mark of 1.85 meters or 6' 0.75". Ethan Hardacre impressed with victories in the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, Hardacre leapt to a 6.86 m mark and 22' 6.25". In the triple, he went on to score 13.61 m or 44' 8".
Danny Rosen followed up his performance at last night's distance carnival with an 800 Meter run, taking third overall at 1:57.73. Carter Floyd helped lead a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1500 Meters, taking first overall at 3:56.40 while Peter Davis took second at 3:58.01 and Kellen Browning took third at 3:58.49.
Up Next: The Sagehens are set to compete at the SCIAC Championships on Saturday, April 7 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite held at Strehle Track at 10 a.m.
