CLAREMONT, CA. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named Andy Reischling SCIAC Athlete of the Year on Wednesday afternoon, along with awarding the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Track and Field Team 13 All-SCIACs. In addition, first year Head Coach Jordan Carpenter was awarded SCIAC Coach of the Year.
Reischling triumphed in the distance events at the SCIAC Championship, taking first place in the 10,000-Meter run with a SCIAC meet record time of 31:24.35. He also took first in the 5000-Meter run at 14:52.64.
"With multiple really deserving athletes this year, it's great to see Andy be recognized for his awesome performances in the distance events this season," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "Beyond being a great runner, Andy is a great leader for our team. He constantly does the little things that are required to be a great student-athlete. He makes my job easy as a coach, and he is a pleasure to have on my team."
Carpenter was named Coaching Staff of the Year after helping the Sagehens win their first SCIAC title in 27 years. He was named SCIAC Coach of the Year earlier in the season for Cross Country.
"We compete in such a great conference that has some amazing coaches. To be recognized by these peers is an incredible honor that I am extremely grateful for," said Carpenter. I am fortunate as the head coach to work with some really incredible assistant coaches who do great things with our student-athletes. All of these coaches dedicate so much of their time to our student-athletes throughout the season, often with little reward or recognition, and I am beyond grateful for what they do."
