CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Track & Field Team got off to a strong start at day one of the SCIAC Championship, producing top podium finishes in the 10,000 Meter Run and the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Competing at Fritz Burns Stadium in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Sagehens showcased their athletic talents and finished the day in second place with 67 points while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps sat in the top with 76 points.
The Sagehens swept the top-four spots in the 10,000m run with Andy Reischling securing first place with a time of 31:17.40. Daniel Hill placed second at 31:17.54 and Hugo Ward clinched the last podium spot at 31:17.72. Owen Woo came in fourth at 31:19.69. Jeremy Adams took sixth at 31:20.88 and Nathan Stringham followed in seventh at 32:07.32.
Daniel Rosen clinched first in the 3000m Steeplechase with a final time of 9:10.50 while Julian Degroot-Lutzner placed third at 9:12.08. Owen Keiser took fifth at 9:29.73.
Over in the throws, Warren Hosseinion earned points in the Hammer Throw, taking fifth with a personal-best mark of 139-08 (42.58m). Over in the Javelin, Nathan Gallatin took fourth with a personal-best mark of 166-06 (50.76m). At the field, Ethan Hardacre earned points in the Long Jump, placing fifth at 21-10.75 (6.67m).
At the preliminary races, Nick Marsano qualified for the 200 Meter Dash final after taking eighth in the qualifier at 22.18 seconds, a personal-best. He also qualified for the 400 Meter Dash after taking second at 49.64 seconds. Alexander Bartone clinched the final qualifying spot with a ninth-place finish at 50.67 seconds. Dante Paszkeicz qualified at ease in the 800m Run, taking first with a time of 1:55.14. Carter Floyd made the cut as well, finishing third at 1:55.57 while Nicholas Borowsky placed fifth at 1:55.40. Sam Arnot took the final spot in the 400m Hurdles after placing ninth at 57.95.
The Sagehens swept the top-five spots in the 1500m Run preliminaries as Paszkeicz once again finished atop at 4:06.18. Carter Stripp placed second at 4:08.22 while Paul McKinley followed in third at 4:06.26. Carter Floyd took fourth, clocking in at 4:08.38, and Daniel Rosen placed fifth at 4:06.31. Kellen Browning clinched a final spot as well after placing 10th at 4:06.87.
