Men's Track & Field: Danny Rosen Breaks Sagehens Steeplechase Record

EAGLE ROCK, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Track & Field Team broke several milestones at the Occidental Invite this past Saturday, as a handful of athletes competed in hopes of reaching the national qualifying marks. Racing against Division I, II, and professional athletes, this meet provided valuable experience for the Sagehens before the NCAA Championship meet.

History was made as Danny Rosen set the school record in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase originally set by Nick Buchan in 1981 at 8:56.13, with a time of 8:51.64. He finished third overall at the race.

"We have had the school record on the radar for some time, so it was awesome to see Danny achieve that goal in a major way," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "He has been working really hard and we knew he was in shape to get it done."

Andy Reischling shattered his own record, resetting the program-best in the 5000 Meter Run to 14:06.71. His time was also the all-time SCIAC record and 14th-fastest in Division III. He placed seventh overall

"Andy has proven himself time and time again as one of the top runners in DIII, this race was no different," said Coach Carpenter. "He has been healthy and training well the past month and that really showed this past weekend in a big way. I am excited to see Andy add to his impressive collection of All-American awards next week."

Hugo Ward ran a personal-best in the 5000, clocking at 14:44.98 for 39th place while Jeremy Adams broke the 15:00 mark for the first time in his career, timing at 14:55.69 for a 53rd-place finish.

In the 800 Meter Run, Dante Paszkeicz won his heat with a time of 1:51.20, making it the fifth-best time of Sagehens history and No. 7 in the nation. Nicholas Borowsky finished 21st in the race with a time of 1:54.18 while Carter Floyd followed right behind at 1:54.26.
