Sagehens Have Big Fourth Quarter, Defeat Redlands 9-7

Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team outscored Redlands 3-0 in the fourth quarter to capture a 9-7 on Saturday morning at Haldeman Pool.

With the win, the Sagehens are now 6-14 overall and 2-2 in the SCIAC, while Redlands falls to 5-19 and 1-4 in the SCIAC with the loss.

The Bulldogs went ahead on a 6-on-5 in the final minute of the third quarter to take a 7-6 lead into the fourth. However, Stephen Vint, who celebrated his Senior Day earlier, broke a 7-7 tie with 6:34 left in the match to make the score 8-7.

Sophomore goalie Ethan Caleb Prater-Fahey (pictured, photo by Bryan Matsumoto) came up huge for the Sagehens in the fourth quarter with a couple of key saves and junior Neil Forsythe was able to add an insurance goal with 4:05 left.

Prater-Fahey denied one last Redlands attempt from close range, his eighth save of the day, in the final minute to make sure the insurance wasn't needed.

Sophomore James Baker led Pomona-Pitzer with three goals, while Vint and sophomore Tommy Turner each had two. Senior Travis Larsen added a goal on his Senior Day as well, as he joined Vint, Kyle Van der Linde and Austin Strong in the prematch ceremony.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Wednesday for a road match against Caltech before returning home to face La Verne on Saturday.
