Sagehens Drop Two At Vanguard

Costa Mesa, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team dropped a narrow 2-1 decision in the first of two at Vanguard and then fell 6-0 in the nightcap on Saturday.

With the losses, the Sagehens slip to 0-5 on the young season as they look forward to the start of SCIAC play this week.

In the opening game Lindsay McCord (pictured) tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth on an RBI single, but Vanguard won it on an RBI triple in the seventh as Bianca Cockrell took the tough luck loss.

Ashley Morello was 3-for-4 for the Sagehens in the nightcap, but they were unable to score a run off of Emily Russell, who scattered six hits to get the shutout.

Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Saturday for a road doubleheader at Cal Lutheran at 12 p.m., the start of conference play.
