Softball Falls Twice At Tucson Invitational

Tucson, Ariz. - The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team fell 4-1 to Gustavus Adolphus and 6-0 to No. 4 Central College at the Tucson Invitational on Thursday.

With the losses, Pomona-Pitzer slips to 1-18 on the year. Central improves to 9-3 with the win, while Gustavus Adolphus improves to 3-2.

Junior Ashley Morello (pictured) continued her hot hitting for the Sagehens, batting 3-for-4 in the Gustavus Adolphus game. Senior Lauren Boden was 2-for-3 against fourth-ranked Central, while Susanne Boden and Paige Oliver added hits as well.

The Sagehens got their run against Gustavus Adolphus in the seventh on a walk to pitcher Eden Griffin, before singles from Morello and Aryana Yee scored pinch runner Stephanie Boden. Griffin allowed just two earned runs in a tough-luck loss.

Freshman Bianca Cockrell also fared well against the fourth-ranked team in the country after allowing three runs in the first, getting shutout innings in the fifth, sixth and seventh against one of the top hitting teams in the country.

Pomona-Pitzer continues play at the Tucson Invitational tomorrow with games against Grinnell and Denison.
