Chapman Takes Two From Sagehens

Orange, Calif. - Natalie Both earned the win in the opener and the save in the nightcap as the Chapman Softball team defeated Pomona-Pitzer 4-0 and 5-2 on Saturday in a SCIAC doubleheader.  
With the losses, the Sagehens fall to 6-11 overall and 2-6 in league play. Chapman improves to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the conference. 

Pomona-Pitzer scored its first run of the doubleheader in the third inning of the nightcap, as freshman Emily Rockhill had an RBI single to cut Chapman's lead to 2-1. Senior Meagan Tokunaga (pictured) tied it 2-2 with an RBI double in the fourth, but Michelle Edwards and Larissa Rinauro had RBI singles in the bottom half to make it 4-2. 

Tokunaga was 2-for-3 in the nightcap with her RBI double, while junior right fielder Susanne Boden was also 2-for-3. Kelci Douglas went four innings to get the win, while Both closed out the final 2.2, allowing one hit and striking out five.  

Pomona-Pitzer managed just five hits in the first game, with senior Leah Bleichner recording two of them (2-for-4). Both allowed four hits over five innings before giving way, while Kristen Weiser had three RBI.  

The Sagehens will be back in action on Saturday when they host CMS for a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
