Softball: Pomona-Pitzer Splits Season Series With Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team split in their road double header to Chapman with a 3-0 win in game one and an 8-0 loss in game two.

Freshman Liz Rodarte earned her third win in two days as she pitched a complete game shutout and struck out nine Panthers.

The Sagehens got on the board first in the top of the third as senior Aryana Yee singled home junior Emily Rockhill to take a 1-0 lead.

Rockhill came back to double home sophomore Missy Pekarek in the top of the fifth and gave the Sagehens a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Natalie Ireland tacked on one more for the Sagehens in the top of the sixth as she smacked an RBI double to left center to bring home Rodarte to extend the lead to 3-0.

Rodarte kept the Panthers' offense quiet throughout the whole game as the Sagehens won their third-straight SCIAC game.

The Pomona-Pitzer offense didn't have the same luck in the second game as it did in the first. The Sagehens scattered seven hits throughout the game but failed to score a run.

The Panthers scored one in the first on an RBI single up the middle but Chapman broke the game open in the bottom of the third as the plated six runs on two three-run home runs to take a 7-0 lead.

The Panthers scored one more with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth as the Panthers run ruled the Sagehens in game two of the double header.

The Sagehens will next take on Redlands at home on Friday, April 29th for a double header at 2:00 p.m.
