Kristen Hong batted 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs while Karina Falkstrom also collected two hits, including a two-RBI home run. Julia Carreon earned her first win of her career after pitching 2.1 innings of relief.

The Big Red took an early lead, scoring twice in the first inning. The Sagehens responded in the bottom of the third inning when Liz Rodarte drilled a double to right field to bring home a runner from second. Kristen Hong followed with a opposite field RBI single to left center to tie the game. After Hong advanced to third off a double by Karina Falkstrom, Izzy Deatherage gave the Sagehens the lead off a sacrifice fly.

Denison tied the game in the top of the fifth when Brennah Dutcher hit an RBI single with a runner on third. They almost threatened to take the lead in the top of the sixth inning, putting runners on first and second with one out. However, the next batter, Emilie Fisher, grounded into a double play as third baseman Olivia Campion fielded a grounder, tagged her base and threw Fisher out at first.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Sagehens' bats finally woke up. With one out and runners on first and third, Katy Hurley unleashed a screaming line drive to right field to give the Sagehens the lead. Rodarte followed with a sacrifice fly and Hong lined a single to left center to make it 6-3. Falkstrom followed by pulling one over the left field fence to extend the lead 8-3. After Deatherage reached on an error, she was brought home by a single by Megan Otsuka to cap the rally.

The Sagehens couldn't complete the sweep as Denison bounced back in game two of the doubleheader. Izzy Deatherage had a solid game at the plate, hitting 2-for-4 with two RBIs, but the Big Red's scoring proved too much to overcome.

Denison struck early once again in the first inning, tacking on three runs. Liz Rodarte pitched in relief in the second inning and shutout the Big Red for the next four innings. The defense also backed up Rodarte with some remarkable plays, including a diving catch on a foul ball by Karina Falkstrom.

The Sagehens responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs and runners on second and third, when Deatherage laced a line drive over to left field to bring the Sagehens within one.

Unfortunately, the Big Red added more four more runs in the top of the sixth and held on for the victory.
