Redlands Pulls Away From Sagehens

Redlands, Calif. - The Redlands Women's Basketball team closed out the first half on a 13-2 run and started the second half with a 15-2 run as it captured an 80-47 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday evening.

With the win, Redlands improves to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the SCIAC, keeping it in the middle of a tight race for first with Chapman and CMS. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 6-11 overall and 4-6 in conference play with the loss.

The Sagehens were within 30-22 late in the first half after a pair of foul shots from freshman forward Basha Brulee-Wills. Redlands, though, broke the game open with a 13-2 run to pull ahead 43-24 at the half.

The Bulldogs scored the first basket of the second half, which was answered by two foul shots from sophomore forward Jenn Okonkwo, but Redlands then scored the next 13 points to pull ahead 58-26 and cruised from there.

Colleen Goeser had 17 points on 7-8 shooting for Redlands, while Brittany Oster added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Okonkwo led the way for the Sagehens with 14 points, while freshman guard Alaina Woo (pictured) added 13 on 5-10 shooting.

Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Cal Lutheran for a 7 p.m. contest.
