Chapman Jumps Out Quickly, Defeats Sagehens

Orange, Calif. - The Chapman Women's Basketball team used early 10-0 and 13-0 runs to take control and never looked back on its way to an 84-50 home win over Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the SCIAC, while the Sagehens fall to 2-11 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

With the score 4-3 early, Chapman went on a quick 10-0 run to pull ahead 14-3. Sophomore forward Basha Brulee-Wills stopped the run with a jumper, but the Panthers scored the next 13 points to build their lead up to 27-5 and then took a 47-14 lead into the break.

Freshman guard Hannah Green came off the bench to knock down three three-pointers in the second half to help jump-start the Sagehens offense and finish with a team high 12 points, along with sophomore guard Alaina Woo (pictured), while Brulee-Wills added 10. Pomona-Pitzer shot 13-28 in the second half after just 3-25 in the opening stanza.

Chapman was led by Irma Munoz off the bench with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while the Panthers had five other players between 7-9 points.

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action on Saturday for a road game at Whittier, beginning at 5 p.m.
