RIVERSIDE, CA: Pomona-Pitzer used big runs throughout the second half to down La Sierra 72-58 on Tuesday night en route to earning their first victory of the 2015 campaign.
Only leading 25-24 entering halftime, the Sagehens (1-1, 0-0 SCIAC) would outscore the Golden Eagles (0-5) 47-34 in the second half including 23-13 in the third quarter in order to put away the game for their first win of the season. Basha Brulee-Willis posted her 25th career double-double for Pomona-Pitzer, tallying 14 points and 12 rebounds (4 offensive) while going 8-11 from the free-throw line. Alaina Woo was a huge offensive spark off the bench as well, compiling 14 points on 4-6 shooting in only 17 minutes of action while going a perfect 4-4 for the charity stripe. Freshman Keilani Ikehara notched a strong performance in only her second career start, adding 11 points while going 4-7 from the field and 1-2 on three-pointers.
In all, the Sagehens shot 43.4% (23-53) from the field and 44.4% (4-9) from three while limiting the Golden Eagles to 37.7% on 23-61 shooting and 37.5% (6-16) from beyond the arc. The Hens also dominated the glass, outrebounding La Sierra 41-33 (27-20 Off.) while forcing 18 turnovers.
