The Sagehens had three players in double-digits in the game, with Anita Romero scoring 11 points in the match. Romero nearly had her second straight double-double, finishing the game with nine boards. Romero opened the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds against Bethesda Tuesday night.
After trailing by eight heading into the fourth quarter, the Sagehens closed the gap to 60-59, off back-to-back three-pointers by Sophie True and Keilani Ikehara. Ikehara sank a free throw to tie the game and Hitomi gave Pomona-Pitzer a 62-60 lead with four minutes left to play.
But La Sierra responded with an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. Woo added another three to cut the deficit, but the Sagehens would get no closer.
Ikehara and True each contributed eight points in the game. Naomi Baer led the Sagehens with 10 rebounds.
The Sagehens ended the first quarter tied at 14-14 before heading into the locker room trailing 35-29.
The Golden Eagles were led by Mikayla Stitt's 19 points and helped by Korie Siets' 12 points. La Sierra were solid off the glass, out rebounding the Sagehens 63-43.
