Women's Basketball: Sagehens' Late Surge Not Enough

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Alaina Woo scored a game-high 25 points and the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team tied the game at 68-68 with 1:49 remaining in the game. 

But the Carleton Knights closed the game on a 8-0 run to beat the Sagehens 76-68 Saturday night in Roberts Pavilion.

After trailing by eight at the half, the Sagehens rallied in the third quarter with the help of two three-pointers by Woo and another by Keilani Ikehara to close the gap to five points entering the final period.

Anita Romero tied the game at 68-68 on an assist by Woo before the Knights retook the lead.

Both Woo and Romero finished the game in double-doubles. Woo added 11 rebounds, 10 defensive, to her 25 points. Romero scored 12 points and grabbed 10 boards. 

Kacie Hitomi and Ikehara also finished the game in double figures. Hitomi scored 10 points and Ikehara added 14. 

Zoe Hunt came off the bench to score five points for the Sagehens. 

Cece Leone led the Knights with 21 points. 

Season Impact: The Sagehens fall to 0-4.

Carelton improves to 1-2 overall.

Next Game: The Sagehens head to Roberts Pavilion to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the first leg of the Sixth Street Rivalry next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
