VENTURA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Golf program kicked off the 2018-19 season with an impressive debut at the California State Intercollegiate in Olivas Links Golf Course, taking third overall behind Division II Point Loma and No. 3 George Fox. The Sagehens shot 601 total as a team, shooting 298 in the first round and 303 in the second. They were a stroke behind second-place George Fox.
"The women's team had a good showing by finishing one shot behind a top-5 D3 school and a D2," said Head Coach John Wurzer. "Sophia Hui's performance was right where she left off from the 2018 1st Team All-SCIAC season and combine that with great debuts by both first year players, Stephanie Yu & Annabelle Huether, we have a lot to look forward to this season."
Sophia Hui was phenomenal in the opening round, shooting 70 (-2), but shot 76 in the second round to finish the tournament at 146. She finished tied for third. First year Stephanie Yu impressed in her collegiate debut, shooting 73 (+1) in the first round and 75 in the second for a total of 148, enough to be tied for fifth place.
