Tao Has Another Big Day At Oxy, Sagehens Win 3-0

Los Angeles, Calif. - Senior Allie Tao (pictured) had a goal and an assist to lead the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team to a 3-0 road win over Occidental on Wednesday evening.

With the win, Pomona-Pitzer improves to 9-2-1 overall on the year and 7-2 in the SCIAC, keeping it within one game of first place Cal Lutheran. Occidental falls to 3-7-2 overall and 2-6-1 in conference play.

With her three-point effort, Tao continued her dominant performances at Occidental, where she had three goals and an assist in a 4-3 win as a sophomore, and two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win last year. Over the last three seasons, she combined for six goals and three assists (15 points) in her three trips to Occidental.

Tao set up the first goal of the game in the 21st minute when her pass in the box found freshman Danika Bethune, who beat Occidental goalie Tayler Renshaw with a low shot. Moments after Julie Khil of the Tigers hit the post with what would have been the tying goal, Tao struck for an insurance goal in the 40th minute, knocking home a cross from senior midfielder Charlotte Fisken.

Pomona-Pitzer added an own goal with 22:20 left in the game to make the final score 3-0 as freshman Agueda Dudley-Berrios took a corner kick and Occidental inadvertently re-directed the ball into their own net.

Freshman goalie Corey Goelz had four saves for the Sagehens in goal to get the shutout, while Renshaw had two for the Tigers.

Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Saturday when it hosts CMS for an 11 a.m. contest.
