LA VERNE, Calif. – The No. 21 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team took care of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent La Verne 4-1 and finished their season undefeated in conference play this year.
Pomona-Pitzer finished the regular season with a 14-1-2 overall record and 12-0-2 in conference play.
The Sagehens go undefeated in the SCIAC for the first time since 1986 where they finished 7-0-1. The Sagehens also become the first team to go undefeated since women's conference play expanded to eight teams with the addition of Chapman in 2011.
The Sagehens jumped out to an early lead as senior Katie Tao scored an unassisted goal in the fourth minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead.
La Verne came back to tie the game early in the second half as Casey Moore scored an unassisted goal to bring the score to 1-1 in the 54th minute. That goal by the Leopards snapped a nine-game shutout streak by the Sagehens dating back to September 28th.
Pomona-Pitzer came back to score three-straight goals as senior Alyssa Kim and senior Danika Bethune scored back-to-back goals and junior Sofia Barsher capped off the regular season with a goal in the 87th minute as the Sagehens ended their historic season on a high note.
"We have achieved some great accomplishments this season putting together those kinds of records", said Head Coach Jennifer Scanlon. "It's hard to go 14 games without a loss in this conference but I am excited to see what we can do in the postseason."
