CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) CMS 1-0 on Wednesday night at Pritzlaff Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens suffer their first loss of the season and fall to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC play.
This loss marks the first time in five meetings that the Sagehens have fallen to the Athenas with the last one prior coming in 2015.
The Sagehens took 11 shots throughout the game and had four shots on goal but could not find the back of the net in 90 minutes at CMS.
The deciding goal came in the second half for CMS as an attacker slipped behind the Sagehens' defense and was able to score the only goal of the game to give the Athenas the 1-0 in the 56th minute.
Pomona-Pitzer had scoring chances during the second half but failed to convert as the Athenas went on to park the bus after the goal making it difficult for the Sagehens to weave their way through the CMS defense.
