CHICAGO, IL. – After being named to the Scholar All-American Team by the United Soccer Coaches back in December 10, 2018, Sarah Jones of the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer travelled to Chicago, Illinois for the United Soccer Coaches award ceremony.
Great to be in Chicago with SJ at the All-American ceremony today. That's a stellar student-athlete walking across the national stage and representing Pomona-Pitzer! #bigtime #oneteam pic.twitter.com/1qmb0NJ3ag— Sagehen's Soccer (@PPWomensSoccer) January 12, 2019
A senior defender for the Sagehens, Jones was named First Team All-West Region and helped the Sagehens to 11 shutouts. She is currently a chemistry major, having excelled in the classroom since transferring in from University of Portland.
"The experience was really humbling, and I'm incredibly thankful that I could go and represent Pomona-Pitzer Soccer," said Jones. "It was a great way to wrap up my final season and celebrate not just my success, but the success of our team and the program as a whole."
"This is the third year in a row we've had a player earn All-American honors. It shows that we have players who are among the best in the country and it's awesome to have Pomona-Pitzer up there on that stage again," said Head Coach Jennifer Scanlon. "Sarah is so deserving of this recognition as a top student-athlete. She has helped us set the bar for what it takes to be successful at this level and inspires her teammates to meet that standard of excellence."
