Sagehens Open Season With Strong Showing At Redlands

Redlands, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swimming and Diving team finished fourth overall and first among Division III teams at the Redlands October Invitational.

The Sagehens finished with 147.5 points, to edge out host Redlands in fifth place with 100 points. The men's team also had a strong showing, coming in fifth overall at the competition with 84 points.

Alex Lincoln spearheaded the effort for the Sagehen women, as she finished third in both the 50-meter freestyle (25.26) and the 100-meter freestyle (54.52). She also contrbuted to the women's 200-meter freestyle relay team, which came in third as well.

Mari Pettibone was fourth in the 200-meter breaststroke (and 10th in the 100-meter), while Ali Valdrighi was eighth in the 100-meters and Kelsey Atkinson was seventh in the 200-meter butterfly.

On the men's side, returning All-American Max Scholten was fifth in the 100-yard back stroke with a time of 53.80. Chris Wright was seventh in the 200-meter butterfly, while the 200-meter medley relay team was sixth.

The Sagehens will return to action in three weeks at the Redlands Pentathlon.
