EAGLE ROCK, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swim & Dive Team had an outstanding showing at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, taking first place in five events as they wrapped up the regular season. Competing against swimmers from the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Swim & Dive team, the Sagehens took advantage of the opportunity to improve personal times as they prepare for the upcoming SCIAC Championship meet.
Sarah Jin took first place in the 200-Yard Individual Medley, clocking at 2:13.12. She also took fourth in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:12.00.
Later in the 50 Freestyle, Maddie Kauahi sealed a close victory, timing at 24.64, .29 seconds ahead of Stephanie Lewis of CMS. She also finished second in the 100 Freestyle at 54.18, right behind teammate Kate Denend who took first at 53.77.
In the mixed relay events, the Sagehens won the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the B Team comprised of Angela Ling, Nick Lewis, Greg Havton, and Denend took first at 1:40.13. The A Team, featuring Erik Garcia, Lukas Ming Menkhoff, Maddie Kauahi, and Hannah Zurmuhl combined for second at 1:40.22. Over at the 200 Freestyle Relay, the Sagehens' A Team comprised of Menkhoff, Nick Borowsky, Zurmuhl, and Kauahi finished in first at 1:30.44.
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again at the SCIAC Championship in Commerce, CA from Thursday, February 21 to Sunday, February 24.
