CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis Team took a domination 8-1 victory over Cal Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon. fter winning the doubles round 2-1, the No. 5 Sagehens went on to sweep the singles round for a comfortable victory.
Season Impact: The No. 5 Sagehens are 12-3 overall and 5-0 in SCIAC play.
Maria Lyven and Arianna Chen combined for an 8-3 victory in no. 1 doubles against Nicole Alvarez and Lilijana Peters-Semak 8-3. Olivia Mendoza and Alex Ferry fell 8-4 against Brennan Foreman and Carolina Groff Hinojosa in no. 3 doubles. In no. 3 doubles, Lucy Jiang and Grace Hruska followed with an 8-4 against Christie Kurdys and Joann Taylor.
Caroline Casper took No. 1 singles against Peters-Semak, winning the first set 6-1 before her opponent decided to forfeit. Maria Lyven won no. 2 singles 6-1 amd 6-2 against Kurdys while Jacinta Chen took no. 4 over Foreman 6-1 and 7-5. Arianna Chen battled in her first set against Alvarez, edging her out in tiebreakers 8-6 to win the first set 7-6. She comfortably took the second set 6-2 to take no. 3. Rebecca Salaway cruised to a 6-0 and 6-1 win over Groff Hinojosa in no. 5 singles, and Melisha Dogra battled to a 7-5 and 6-1 win in no. 6 single against Heidi Levanen.
