Relay Team Highlights Women's Track And Field Performance At Cal Lutheran

Thousands Oaks, Calif. - A season-best 4x400 meter relay time highlighted the performance of the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Track and Field team on Saturday.

Photo is of Stephanie Micham handing off to Dot Silverman for the anchor of the 4x400m relay. The first two legs were run by Katie Barton and Erin Delaria, as the tam finished with a 4:11.93.

Barton continued her all-around strong freshman season for the Sagehens, as her 400 hurdle time was the ninth-fastest in Pomona-Pitzer history, as she finished with a 65.58. She was only .19 behind Rose Lewis of CMS for first place at the event, as she trimmed over two seconds off her personal best time.

Tasha Block's 3000-meter steeplechase time was the sixth-best all-time mark in program history (12:58.74), while Alex Oxborough-Yankus' javelin throw of 116'2" put her in eighth place.

"We had a great day out at Cal Lutheran," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We had lots of season's bests, and even a number of personal bests. We continue to improve and progress as a team, and I'm looking forward to the next couple of meets.

"Katie's hurdling today was superb; she's quite a talent. I was also impressed by Dot's 800m and ShaKayla Rouse's 400m in their first time running those events this spring. Tasha's steeple was very strong, as well, as was Alex's javelin toss."

The Sagehens will be back in action next weekend at the California/Nevada Collegiate Championships, hosted by CMS.
