Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Track and Field saw another school record fall at the CMS Rossi Relays on Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The distance medley relay team of Stassja Sichko (pictured, front), Maya Weigel (pictured, back), Lauren Collins and Cat Banobi broke the school mark which had held since 2008 with a 12:27.06. It was the second weekend in a row that a team record fell, as Weigel broke the mile mark last weekend at the All-Comers Invitational at Strehle Track.
The relay team wasn't the only strong performance from the Sagehens on Saturday, as Ailene Nguyen finished in first place in the long jump at 17 feet, eight inches, over a foot longer than the second place finisher. Prisca Diala finished in fourth place, while Schuyler Fox was eighth, giving Pomona-Pitzer three top-ten finishers.
Nguyen was also sixth in the 100 meters with a 12.53, while Fox was 13th with a 13.13. Kaile Sauro earned a pair of sixth-place finishes with a 16.10 in the 100-meter hurdles and a 4 foot, 9.75 inch jump in the high jump.
Jessica Finn, meanwhile, came in second place in the javelin with a throw of 129 feet, six inches, moving into sixth in Sagehen history. Ellen Yamasaki added two top ten finishes in the hammer and discus.
