Women's Track And Field Goes 3-0 At SCIAC Quad

La Verne, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Track and Field team defeated Caltech, Cal Lutheran and Chapman in the first SCIAC Quad meet of the 2015 season on Saturday.

The Sagehens narrowly edged out Cal Lutheran 84-79 in the tightest dual of the day, while defeating Caltech and Chapman by wide margins. La Verne also competed in the quad, but Pomona-Pitzer did not have a dual score against the Leopards. 

Junior Ailene Nguyen finished in first in the long jump (5.55 meters), while sophomore Schulyer Fox came in third (5.19 meters).  Nguyen and freshman Prisca Diala were 2-3 in the triple jump as well, with Nguyen recording a jump of 11.19 and Diala 11.03. Nguyen (second) and Fox (fourth) also scored highly in the 100 meters, with Nguyen running a 12.39. 

Sophomore Kaile Sauro was the winner in the 100 meter hurdles with a tiem of 16.01, while Abby Gardner earned the win in the steeplechase at 12:48.38. Sophomore Maya Weigel was first in the 800 meters (2:20.44) and Stassja Sichko finished second (2:23.61), while Weigel was second in the 1500 meters. 

Freshman Jessica Finn (pictured) was second in the javelin at 39.01 meters to highlight the field events, while senior Ellen Yamasaki was third in the hammer (35.61 meters) and Finn came in fourth. 

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action next weekend for the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday evening.
