Women's Track & Field: Addo-Ashong Sets Program Record In 100m Hurdles

EAGLE ROCK, CA. – In their final multi-dual of the season, the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Track & Field Team saw Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong reach a nationally ranked mark in the Triple Jump and 100 Meter Hurdles, giving the team plenty of optimism before the postseason. Competing against Chapman University, Cal Lutheran University, Occidental College, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Sagehens went 2-2 at the meet to bring their dual record to 5-3.

"We competed well today, and this sets us up for a strong showing at the conference champs in two weeks," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We are so proud of Vicky-Marie. Congrats to her! She's put in a lot of work, and now has a track school record to go along with her field event school record in the triple jump."

Quin Fraley continued her domination in the 400 Meter Dash, taking first overall at 58.34 seconds. She was the only runner in the race to finish below a minute. In the 800m Run, Ariel Kivela took third with a time of 2:25.11. Lauren Hamilton placed second in the 1500m Run at 4:49.88 while Helen Guo took sixth at 4:54.59. Genevieve DiBari finished seventh in the 1500m at 4:56.17 just after taking ninth in the 800m at 2:32.11. Lila Cardillo finished second overall in the 5000m at 18:51.96.

Addo-Ashong edged out Sabrine Griffith in the 100m Hurdles, taking first at 14.68 seconds while Griffith was .16 seconds behind for second. The junior set the program record in this event and has the 15th-best time in the nation. She later took first in the Triple Jump with a mark of 38-4 (11.68m). It was the sixth-best mark in the country. The junior finished fourth in the High Jump at 4-11 (1.50m).

Up Next: The Sagehens will suit up for the postseason as they head across the street to Fritz Burns Stadium at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for the SCIAC Championships on Saturday, April 27 to Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m.
