LEXINGTON, KY. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association awarded the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Volleyball Team the 2018-19 AVCA Team Academic Award today for their excellence in the classroom this past academic year.
"This honor is a testament to the excellence our team strives for both in the classroom and on the court," said Head Coach Valerie Townsend. "I am so proud of what this team does to represent our program, this AVCA Team Academic Award is a team goal every year and I couldn't be more pleased about this accomplishment."
The Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. The AVCA awarded a record 1,125 teams, breaking last season's total of 977.
The Sagehens will prepare for the upcoming 2019 season and will start the new year with the Pacific Coast Classic on August 30th.
