LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named two members of the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Volleyball to the All-SCIAC team on Monday morning as seniors Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong and Isabel Kelly were named to the Second Team. Addo-Ashong also received the 2019 SCIAC Character Award for her academic achievements off the court.
Addo-Ashong finished the season with 242 total kills and was tied for seventh in the SCIAC with 70 total blocks. She was also ninth in the conference with a .262 kill percentage and finished fifth in total points with 300.5.
The senior earned the 2019 SCIAC Character Award winner for not only being a great volleyball player, but also being an exemplary student off the court. She has earned the Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Excellence Award the past two years, and is extremely active on campus. She serves on SAAC, ASPC Residence Life Committee, and the President's Advisory Committee in Sexual Violence Prevention & Intervention. She is an All-American triple jumper (fourth) and placed 12th at NCAA in the 100-meter hurdles. Aside from being a dual-sport athlete and being a co-captain for both volleyball and women's track & field, and is a two-time member of the SCIAC All-Academic Team in both sports. In addition, she was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Vicky is also a research assistant with the Minerva Research Initiative, is a Pomona College Tour Guide, chaired the ASPC Campus Sports Committee, and most recently served as a communications intern with the Nuclear Energy Institute.
Isabel Kelly earned second career All-SCIAC honor after finishing fifth in the SCIAC in total kills with 275. She was also fourth in SCIAC for total points with 307.5 points. She finished her Sagehen career with 979 total kills and 1097.0 total points.
