RIVERSIDE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Cross Country Team finished the 39th Annual UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational in third place on Saturday morning, with sophomore Lila Cardillo finishing first amongst collegiate runners. The Sagehens scored 53 points on the 5K course and saw three runners finish in the top-5 among collegians.
"We ran well," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "This was a good early-season team effort that shows we can be a good team. We still need to tighten up our pack running so that we minimize individuals running solo. This shows that our training is on the right path, and sets us up nicely for our next meet in two weeks."
Cardillo had an impressive run, finishing eighth overall, but first out of collegiate runners with a time of 17:48.6. Senior Helen Guo crossed in 10th, third among collegians, with a time of 18:01.2, and Genevieve DiBari took 12th, fifth among collegians, at 18:10.7.
Rosie Linkus took 17th among collegiants and 29th overall with a time of 18:53.5 while first year Kelsey Van Allen placed 42nd overall, 27th among collegians, at 19:11.8. Madeleine Mount Cors crossed in 44th overall, 28th among collegians, at 19:13.7 and Ela Nickels was the last among the Sagehens to score for the team after crossing in 49th, 33rd among collegians, at 19:18.4.
