NEW ORLEANS, LA. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Cross Country team had all seven of its athletes earn All-West Region honors after the NCAA West Regional on Saturday morning.
The Sagehens took second place for the second consecutive season and had all seven of its runners earn All-West Region honors for the first time in program history.
A total of 280 men and 280 women from 155 different institutions earned the distinction by finishing among the top-35 runners at one of eight regional sites across the country.
There were only 11 teams total that had all seven runners earn All-West honors while the Sagehens were the only school to have both the men and women's team represented on the list.
Lila Cardillo and Helen Gup became the first two to pass the finish line with second and third place finishes. Abigail Loiselle and Madeleine Mount-Cors also finished back-to-back in 18th and 20th followed by Ela Nickels in 23rd, Lilly Bar in 31st and Sophia West in 34th.
On a conference level, no league had more All-Region honorees than the UAA with 59. The SCIAC finished with 47, while the NESCAC was the only other conference with more than 40 at 46. Both the MIAC (38) and the Liberty League (32) were within shouting distance.
